Dr Mwazvita TB Dalu PhD

I am an environmental scientist and social–behavioural researcher with experience lecturing from first-year to PhD level, and leading interdisciplinary projects across water management, sustainable waste systems, plastic pollution, climate-smart agriculture, and ecosystem-based adaptation. My work sits at the intersection of environmental science, behavioural insights, and sustainable development, with a strong focus on understanding how people, institutions, and ecosystems interact to shape environmental outcomes. My expertise spans sustainable development planning, monitoring and evaluation, policy development and review, behavioural economics, stakeholder engagement, and socio-ecological system analysis. 

I use both qualitative and quantitative approaches, ranging from behavioural analysis and community research to data modelling and statistical interpretation, to generate insights that guide evidence-based decision-making.I am passionate about developing context-appropriate frameworks and conceptual models that strengthen environmental governance, inform policy implementation, and support inclusive and climate-resilient development across Southern Africa. Across my teaching, research, and consulting work, I aim to contribute to regional sustainability priorities, strengthen institutional capacity, and drive scalable solutions in the fields of ESG, natural resource management, sustainable food systems, and environmental policy. In 2025 and 2026, I was selected for the South Africa Young Academy of Sciences and DHET Future Professors Programme, reflecting my growing role in academic leadership and institutional service. 

I am currently a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Sciences at University of Mpumalanga and a Research Associate with the Open University and UNISA.
